Google Android versus Apple IOS Market Share

In 2007 Android OS was released to the public.  This was Google's answer to the IOS the software that runs  iPad and iPhone.  IOS was the most popular mobile operating system at the time.  It overtook Symbian which was used by Nokia and Blackberry OS which was used by Blackberry mobile phones almost overnight.

When Android was released it then overtook the IOS.

As of this year, 2015, Google's Android has captured 81.5% of the mobile market while Apple's IOS has 14.8% market share.

Android has indeed become very popular.  Why should it not?  The OS is very easy to use.  And there are a lot of applications available for download. Most of them are free.

As of February 2015 there are more than 1.4 million apps available for download at Google Play.
